Great news that FEGGA – the European confederation of greenkeepers’ associations – has secured 10 places for greenkeepers to work at Le Golf National in France, when it hosts the Ryder Cup.
I am so looking forward to my chance to be there as part of the greenkeeping support team, and would urge anyone to take up the challenge and apply through BIGGA or the GCSAI membership.
They’ll be around 180 greenkeepers in the team for the week, so it will give the chance to meet so many people and learn from all their experience. It’s a little bit daunting, but I know from other support events that there’s just such a great team atmosphere that everyone helps each other out – to have a brilliant time and learn a huge amount too.
We’ve been working with Alejandro Reyes, Course Manager and Le Golf National, and I’ve been really impressed with his approach and how he values the contribution of everyone in his team to present the golf course in such incredible condition.
One thing is so clear that he’s passionate about sharing the experience as widely as possible – getting the whole industry involved and using the opportunity to showcase the great work that greenkeepers do.
Alejandro and FEGGA have put together an exceptional educational programme for the week too, which is one of the reasons that Syngenta has been so keen to support the international greenkeping team at Le Golf National.
Hope to see you there!!
