So the festive season was littered with photos of out of control Microdocium Patch this year. It’s true the pressure over the December was dissapointingly high but not unusual. The below charts taken from Greencast show the disease pressure in one location for the last five years.
Whilst 2018 was a tough one – particularly over the Christmas period it’s not unusual to get these levels of pressure during December.
We need to go back to 2014 to see something comparable to this year fall in the Christmas period though.
There is always alot of discussion over social media when we hit these difficult periods but the subjects around really boiled down to 4 subjects:
- Fungicides don’t work like they used
- Use penetrants to help
- Product safety / losing products
- Climate change
